Selling Premium in a Price-First Market

Selling Premium

Last week, a business acquaintance of mine posted something on LinkedIn that really resonated with me, especially in today’s market. He works in high-end home improvement and shared some honest thoughts about selling premium products when the world feels increasingly focused on price.

He said: “People can afford premium, they just need a reason to.”

And I couldn’t agree more.

At Direct Affinity CX, we see this dynamic play out all the time, especially with our SalesDrive product. We offer premium-level insight, strategy and performance, and yet we operate in a market that’s often cost-driven, volume-focused and wary of adding another supplier to the mix.

So how do we reconcile that?

In my opinion, it’s by sticking to three things that still matter, particularly when price seems to be the loudest voice in the room:

1. Educate

In automotive retail, especially outbound contact, there can be confusion between ‘cheap’ calls and valuable ones.

With SalesDrive, we’re not just dialling through a list. We’re cleansing data, building conversion pathways, qualifying outcomes and improving ROI with every campaign.

It’s not just more calls. It’s smarter calls.

Dealers and OEMs don’t always realise what’s behind the uplift, so it’s my job to show them the value that we add.

2. Tell The Story

We’re not simply selling a call centre service; we’re enabling dealers to have meaningful conversations with real buyers. We’re turning shortfalls into opportunities. We’re giving sales managers breathing room in tight months.

SalesDrive goes beyond quick fixes, it delivers real performance, powered by people who are genuine experts in delivering exceptional customer experiences.

I know that if we can help dealer groups feel the confidence and clarity that comes from a well-executed campaign, the numbers will take care of themselves.

3. Back Your Value

I’ll be honest, the temptation to discount or offer a quick deal is always there. But if we start our conversations from a place of compromise, what does that say about what we deliver?

SalesDrive is designed to drive real outcomes, and we price it accordingly. Our value is in the performance, not the promise.

Essentially, if you’re selling a premium product in a value-first environment, the answer isn’t a race to the bottom; it’s to raise your game.

Position clearly. Educate honestly. And back yourself – and your team – to deliver.
